Shifting Gears
We're all shifting gears as we drive the highway called life. There are times when we shift from drive into park so that we can sit and figure out our next step, our new destination. We also have to use reverse at times to go back and get the lessons we might have missed. If we put it in reverse and pick up all past missteps, regrets, guilt's and sorrows, put them in the trunk and drive off, in essence we're dragging a lot of dead weight, which will certainly slow our progress down. We only need pick up the lessons which are not as heavy, that's for sure. At times we've put the peddle to the metal and sped along so fast we haven't even seen the scenery. Slamming on the breaks can cause us to swerve when we're traveling at such high speeds. We could possibly crash or stall beside the road until we recover. Then, we can move forward once again. At times we rev our engine and then at other times we shift into overdrive and cruise along to save gas (energy). We can glide on cruise control for a time as we ponder any changes in our direction too. We're on our way, we're headed towards our goal(s) and at times we can slip into third gear in order to pass others on our way. One key ingredient to a smooth ride is maintenance. We truly do need to be sure we are maintaining our engine or we will begin to sputter and slow down. We need to be sure we're getting the right fuel to serve our engine well. We truly can't continue, for any length of time, at high speeds without pulling over, putting life in park and taking the time to inhale the view. Looking in the rear vies mirror we can see our progress from where we've been, how far we've come and how far we have to go to reach our planned destination. We can take great pride in our progress on this grand adventure. And so today I was thinking of how, as we drive through life, we are constantly shifting gears. Wishing each of you a very pleasant journey. Love and Light, Judi
